Rakuten Marketing was born in 2013 after four digital marketing performance companies merged into the omni-channel powerhouse that Rakuten is today. I was responsible for the creative direction, content strategy and worked as lead interactive designer and illustrator to craft Rakuten's debut online identity. Each service was branded and distinguished from the other through custom illustrations that conceptualize how they connect advertisers to consumers. The illustrations were carried across promotional pages on which they teamed with visually consistent icons employed to emphasize top-level messaging.
Rakuten Marketing launched with six global locations across four continents. I worked closely with the development team on planning and executing a robust and highly custom Content Management System that allowed global teams to manage their website version independently, while a master CMS enabled top-level administrators to publish specific content types globally.
